REBECCA HARGROVE is a Senior Booth Director for one of the top Celebrity and Scale VoiceOver Departments in world: William Morris Endeavor Entertainment, in Beverly Hills, CA.
Originally hailing from Mobile, Alabama, and graduating University of South Alabama with a BSBA and major in Sport and Event Marketing, REBECCA was driven even back as a Junior in college by the goal of becoming a talent agent. Unrelenting in her chosen goal and determined to make her way into the elite, Rebecca relocated to the entertainment capital of the world July 2000. What kind of talent agent she might want to be, she was not yet aware… but what she DID know, was that there was only one place in the World to get the kind of experience and training her long-term goals would necessitate… Yep – you guessed it: A Talent Agency in Hollywood, California!
Her first job in The Industry was as an assistant to the head of the Voiceover Dept at Talent Group, Inc. (TGI), in Los Angeles, CA. As chance would have it, just 4 months into her employment, she was trained in the pro VoiceOver recording booths and coached on how to direct working VoiceOver talent. To say she was a Natural at this particular position would be an understatement. Let’s just say Rebecca ‘got’ the Mic – and the Talent that used it. After leaving TGI, she quickly realized she needed to hone her new-found skills and focus on what she now knew she wanted to do: direct voiceovers. With that goal in mind, she was quickly hired on at Abrams Artists Agency as they expanded their Scale VO department, and spent the next 2 years honing those talents. (She gives particular credit to Mark Quinn, an agent she still finds herself quoting quite a bit when directing!). While at Abrams, she was contacted by an employment agency she’d had some contact with. They had been hired by William Morris to recruit someone with strong professional voice directing experience. Serendipity. After 4 interviews, she was offered the position of Voice Director in their prestigious VoiceOver Department. She started January of 2006 … and has never looked back. Her current duties at William Morris Endeavor Entertainment include helping cast scripts, schedule and run the day-to-day Auditions for both Scale and A-List Celebrities… and of course … DIRECTING.
From the Gal Herself:
"I’m looking forward to working with those interested in breaking into Voiceover, as well as with those who could use a refresher course on how to lay down a solid read, and book the gig. I also tend to stress "The Business of The Biz" – teaching talent how to market themselves through different marketing techniques, as well as how to create demos that best showcase their unique talent…"
"My approach is not just creative – but practical – I always bring to focus the PR psychology behind the choices, to better ensure a booking read..."
